Windows task scheduler engine has stopped working

System File Checker tool will troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows. It determines which file is causing the issue, and then replaces the file. Possibly a new data point, but I only started noticing this problem after the latest version of Office was installed on the machine. Can't say for sure what the cause might be, but if you can't get it to work then maybe this will help in your case as well. Basically the task sheduler crashed. This could be caused by real bug in the software, corrupted files, virus or network attack. Also, could you describe how often does this happend and the circumstances when it happens.

I would suggest that you run SFC scan on the computer which would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them. The scan may take some time, so be patient. Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds. If information from the installation CD is needed to repair the problem, you may be prompted to insert your Windows Vista installation disk.
