Back then, Vista Point was a spot to not only enjoy the views, but for some, a place to hang out and enjoy social activities as well.

But with the treacherous road that takes you there, partying at the Point, might not be the best idea. Besides being a place to take in amazing views, the turnout is also a photo destination to take incredible shots of the Coachella Valley, both in the daytime and at night.

As well as bird watching and wild life and plant spectating. Vista Point has changed over the years for the better. It was kind of scary back in the day. No well-maintained mini walls like there are now, and the once rampant graffiti is gone too.

The powers that be have cleaned up the famous spot very nicely. Like I mentioned before, I used to drive up to Vista Point often. Taking the drive up Hwy 74 proved to be therapeutic. However, my sense of adventure has been slightly quelled over the years where heights are concerned, making my travels up to the lookout few and far between. But the view makes it all worth while. This place has a magical atmosphere. Since the day I moved to the desert, been coming here often.

Although I moved out a couple of years ago and I have been around the world, coming here with my old friends brings back a lot of memories. Great spot to get away and amazing view Quick jaunt up from the valley floor and there you are! I think any local can tell you a story of driving up here to clear their head.

Its beautiful to see the lights at night. Sometimes a drive and some good tunes cures all. Beautiful vistas from this lookout point. Lovely drive along hwy 74 and not far from Palm Desert at all. Great view of the valley. A local of 40 years told me about a steep trail just below this point to some natural waterfalls. The hike is not for the faint of heart. I have not done it yet, but its on my list. So barren, blunt, cold, however in its entirety a staunch beauty.

A good place to pull over and see the scope of. It seemed to be part race track going up. Great view when you get there. Too much trash left. Beautiful look out point Amazing view! Be careful turning into here if youre coming up the mountain. Its a blind corner and there are cars coming down quicker than you think. Nice view of the entire valley.

Very nice place with a beautiful panoramic views of the valley. Go here for sunsets, but if you are driving from the valley, joining the Vista point is tricky- be careful about the oncoming traffic and also traffic behind you. Has parking spots. This is a great place to stop by to watch the sunset.

It has a great high view of Palm Desert city below. I took many time lapse pictures of cars climbing up to the vista point at night. The pictures came out nice with cars leaving a lit trail of light. Though I was alone, this seems like a very romantic place and popular with couples. Bring a snack or picnic and watch a beautiful sunset and watch the city below light up into a shiny place.

The views of the Cochella Valley below this viewpoint are wondetful. Be prepared for many fast switchbacks. The small wonderful mountain town of Idyllwild is welcoming and wonderful at the top. A lovely day trip indeed.

Awesome place, worth the trip. The views are fantastic. There are always few visitors there so it is certainly a please to visit in the valley.

Nearby there are few other stops which are also spectacular. I call this place almost better than the grand canyon. I am sure you heard about it. A very nice place to go. Not crowded at all. Definitely something to stop to for 5 min heading on hwy Cool spot, didnt know it existed til we stopped there on the way back from idyllwild but i recommend it yo.

It is a beautiful place to chill in the desert weather and look at cars go up the mountain as well as looking at the palm springs and desert. Great view of the Coachella valley! Get here early for an amazing sunrise. So unfortunate that some people decide to throw their trash on the ground here though. This was a really nice break point on our drive for Womens Retreat. The view was great.

Im not sure if theres any touristy places in the vacinity other than the view though. I do plan on making the drive again from Oceanside specifically for the view. My father has Alzheimers and cant do much but enjoys going in e car; maybe he can still appreciate the view. Im always looking for a nice view to make a drive to where he doesnt need to walk once we get there. If you have any spots you love, please pass on the location. Its beautiful, I tend to go at night because its the view that you enjoy the most.

Everything looks so much more beautiful at night especially a sight of the city its just perfect and makes any moment special. Drove up here at sunrise for an amazing view. The road coming up the mountain from Palm springs is windy and a challenging drive if youre not familiar with the terrain, but its easily navigable and not too long a drive.

Rarely filled with people and its a good rest spot for a second while youre driving either up or down the mountain. Also a great view at any time of day or night!

Amazing views, highly recommend going at sunrise or sunset for the best of it. Drive is easy from the valley, just some twists the last 5 mins until you get up there. This is the most amazing view! I will add more photos later but I stop everytime and try to capture the essence of it and havent been able to accomplish this. It is awing how the valley just spreads out below you!
